Documentary Letter of Credit

The bank instructed by the buyer provides an irrevocable undertaking to pay a fixed amount to the seller if the seller presents the specified documents for the goods within a given validity period.

Documentary Collections

The seller instructs the bank to hand over the documents for the goods to the buyer only against payment of a fixed amount.

Protects the seller against the risk of supplying goods without quid pro quo – however, in contrast to a documentary letter of credit, there is no obligation to pay.
